2021 Best Negative Data Prize in Clinical Neuroscience

The ECNP Negative Results Prize in Clinical Neuroscience recognises those who have made exceptional contributions to CNS treatment development by publishing clinical research with negative findings.

Extending its previous sponsorship of the Best Negative Data Prize for results in preclinical neuroscience, as of 2021 the U.S.-based non-profit research organisation Cohen Veterans Bioscience (CVB) will provide a cash prize of US$ 10,000 to accompany the award.

Corresponding authors may submit their papers directly via CVB portal on or before 30 April 2021. The review committee will select and inform the winner by 1 August.

The presentation of the prize will take place at the 34th ECNP Congress Hybrid, 2-5 October 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal, where the winner will be invited to present a talk about his or her negative data results paper.

It is also possible to submit a non-standard abstract for example, for clinical cases, literature reviews and research proposals.

The deadline for abstract submission for poster presenters is 18 May 2021.

The New Medications Session

New Medications Symposium: propose your topic

The New Medications Symposium is a special symposium dedicated to clinical trials of new compounds, including proof of concept and post-marketing studies, using data from human trials.

Are you interested in presenting your new medication at the 34th ECNP Congress Hybrid, 2-5 October 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal?

Please send us by e-mail, before 26 May 2021, the following details:

  • A suggested speaker (name, institute, e-mail)
  • A presentation title (max. 25 words)
  • A summary explaining the content of the presentation (max. 250 words)
  • A short motivation: why is it important that these findings are shared?

We accept submissions from both academia and industry.

ECNP Network and the 'Get Digital' online series

Get Digital’ is an online series on mHealth organised by the ECNP Network on Digital Health Applied to the Clinical Research of Brain Disorders, aimed at sharing and distributing new and high-quality research to researchers and clinicians, educating Early Career Scientists, and fostering collaborations across research groups.

The dates in 2021 are:

  • 11 May 2021: Ulrich Ebner-Priemer, Germany — Pitfalls and promises of real-time monitoring in mental disorders
  • 8 June 2021: Kate Saunders & George Gillett, UK — Mobile phone communications as a marker of mood and anxiety
  • 14 September 2021: Maria Faurholt-Jepsen, Denmark — Using voice features collected from smartphones to classify bipolar disorder
  • 12 October 2021: Heleen Riper & Arnout Smit, The Netherlands — Predicting turning points in suicidal behaviour among depressed patients by EMA
  • 9 November 2021: Martien Kas, The Netherlands — Digital measures of daily social functioning across neuropsychiatric disorders
  • 14 December 2021: Tim Hahn, Germany — Network control theory and attractor models of longitudinal symptom dynamics in major depressive disorder

Winners of The Brain Prize 2021 

ECNP congratulates Lars Edvinsson, Peter Goadsby, Michael Moskowitz and Jes Olesen, of The Brain Prize 2021, worth 10 million Danish kroner, for this recognition of their ground-breaking work on the causes and treatment of migraine.

The world's largest brain research prize is Danish and is awarded by the Lundbeck Foundation. More info here
